Love Your Dog? Include them in your Margaret River Wedding!
As a Margaret River wedding celebrant, I’m not just a fan of weddings, I’m also a fan of dogs! If you adore your pup as much as I love mine, why not make them part of your wedding ceremony? Margaret River is the perfect place for a relaxed, dog-friendly wedding, and I’m all for including your four-legged best friend in the celebration.
How to Include Your Dog in Your Margaret River Wedding
First, make sure your dog is comfortable around crowds and behaves well in public. If they’re more likely to zoom around your guests than sit still for photos, you might want to rethink their starring role - or at least keep it simple with a quick ring-bearing moment or a cute aisle walk.
As an example, I recently officiated a wedding where the ring bearer was Maverick, the couple’s trusty hound. When it came time for the rings, I literally said “Maverick, I believe you have the rings?”…and whistled. His ears pricked up and he promptly trotted down the aisle to the groom’s side. One of those jaw dropping moments that made the ceremony even more special!
Maverick was certainly in on the act and well behaved, but I appreciate all pups may not be so well trained, so a dedicated dog handler is a must! Assign someone to take care of your pup so you can focus on your vows instead of chasing after an overly excited fur baby.
And don’t forget the practicalities - public wedding locations require dogs to be on a leash and National Parks and most beaches in Margaret River don’t allow dogs at all, so keep that in mind when choosing your ceremony spot.
Stress-Free Dog-Friendly Weddings in Margaret River
If your dog is part of your family, it makes sense to have them at your wedding. The key is planning ahead to keep the experience fun and stress-free. And if your pup steals the show with some adorable antics like Maverick did? Even better…just imagine those wedding photos!
Oh, and one last thing…don’t forget a doggy bow tie or flower crown. If your pup is going to be part of your big day, they should look just as fabulous as you!
